The melody and lyrics of the two songs highlighted here were written by IIftach Kerzner.

In 2006,  during the 2nd Lebanon War, two Israeli Air Force pilots were killed when their Apache Longbow hlicopter crashed near Tzfat while on a combat mission. The two pilots were Colonel Zvi Luft, 42 and Second Lieutenant Tom Farkash, 23.

Iftach Krezner, is a childhood friend of Tom Farkash. Million Stars (Million Kochavim) was written on the eve when Krezner was told about the tragedy. Amit Farkash, Tom’s sister was 17 years old when it happened. She performed the song for the first time in her brother’s funeral.

In this 2012 video, Amit Farkash performs the song live.  A version of the song with English subtitles is shown belwo the live performance.

In Our Kindergarten (Etzlenu Ba’Gan) is a mournful ballad written by Iftach (Ifty) Kerzner and sung by Shay Lee Atary. It was written in 2014 during the Gaza war. The song describes events in a kindergarten as a reflection on the ultimate sacrafice of some brave young Israeli soldiers that are giving their lives to their beloved country.

Iftach Kerzner said that he caught a glimpse of two kids huddling under a blanket, playing around with a flashlight — an image that became the theme for the song, which is about a group of friends, growing up together.
